Custom work typically costs more than off-the-shelf pieces due to the additional design and making time involved. That said, you're getting something made specifically for you from solid wood — it's an investment that will last.
How do I clean solid wood furniture?
How do I clean solid wood furniture?
For everyday cleaning, a dry or slightly damp cloth is all you need. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive cloths, or soaking the wood with water. Always wipe spills promptly.
How do I maintain the finish?
How do I maintain the finish?
This depends on the finish applied to your piece. Oiled furniture benefits from occasional re-oiling (roughly once or twice a year, or when the wood starts to look dry). Waxed pieces can be buffed with a suitable furniture wax. We'll advise on the right care routine for your specific furniture when it's delivered.
Will solid wood move or crack over time?
Will solid wood move or crack over time?
Wood is a natural material and will expand and contract slightly with changes in humidity and temperature — this is normal. To minimise movement, keep your furniture away from direct heat sources (radiators, fireplaces) and avoid placing it in areas with very high or fluctuating humidity.
My furniture has a scratch or mark — what can I do?
My furniture has a scratch or mark — what can I do?
Minor scratches in oiled or waxed furniture can often be treated with a little oil or wax rubbed into the affected area. For deeper damage, solid wood can be sanded back and refinished — something that simply isn't possible with veneered or manufactured board furniture. Get in touch and we'll advise on the best course of action.
Can I put hot or wet items directly on the surface?
Can I put hot or wet items directly on the surface?
We recommend always using coasters, placemats, and trivets. While our finishes offer good protection, prolonged heat or moisture can damage any wood surface.
